The parents should know the psychological and intellectual aspects of a child then only they can bring up the child in a better way.

There are different types of parenting. They are authoritarian parenting, authoritative parenting, permissive parenting, and uninvolved parenting.

Authoritarian parenting is the strict form of parenting in which the parents decide each and everything about the children. The parents keep certain rules and regulations that have to be strictly followed by the children under any circumstances. Any failure in maintaining the rules usually end up in punishments. This parenting style uses authoritarian approach in rearing up the children. This form of parenting causes behavior problems in children as well as it impedes the development of social competence as the children grows up.

The authoritative style is same as that of authoritarian parenting in which the children must strictly stick to the rules imposed by the parents on them. The only thing which makes it different from authoritarian style of parenting is that the parents are more open to their children. They listen more to their children when they face some sort of problems and comes with solution rather than ruling over their lives. This is considered as one of the effective form of parenting. Various researches states that authoritative style of parenting helps the children to become more confident socially, co-operative, independent, and are able to control their emotions.

Permissive parenting is usually found in the parents who stay away from their children. In this style of parenting, the parents usually do not have much concern about their children’s future. There are no rules and regulations that have to be followed by the children. The parents are more lenient towards misbehavior of the children and do not even punish them when they are doing something wrong. There is no much communication between the parents and the children in this form of parenting. This creates negative behavior in the children at school than the children who have open communication with their parents.

Uninvolved parenting is same as how the term uninvolved is defined. In this parenting style, there is an complete absence of emotional attachment of the parents towards the children. They do not have any serious expectation about the children’s future. However, they provide all basic necessities for the survival of their children. They are not really interested in the schooling of their children as well as pay less importance to their extracurricular activities.  In this parenting style, there is a long gap between the parents and their children. This also results in various negative behaviors in the children.
